PEI COPC Educational Bursary
PEI Certified Organic Producers Co-op now offers an educational organic bursary award of $750 to PEI high school students seeking to include organic agriculture as part of their university or college studies.
2010 Recipient: Matthew Hughes
Matthew Hughes has been named as the recipient of the 2010 Certified Organic Producers Co-operative Educational Bursary. The award to Mr Hughes is the result of PEI Certified Organic Producers Cooperative annual Organic Harvest Meal. The funds raised at that event are used to sustain the Bursary.
Matthew was raised on Hughes Family Farm, a dairy farm owned and operated by Gary and Kelly Hughes in Kelly Cross, with younger brother Jamie and two sisters Grace and Katie. Matthew has a keen interest in animal husbandry and works on his father organic farm during the summer month.
Matthew has been accepted into post secondary studies at NSAC for the next two years, and after that plans to complete the last four years at the Atlantic Veterinarian College in Charlottetown to become a doctor of veterinary medicine. We wish Matthew well as he works towards his goals in life!
